Bac Ninh strives to have 40 craft products qualified for OCOP annually

The northern province of Bac Ninh strives to have 40 craft products evaluated and ranked by the OCOP (One Commune One Product) program annually.

In 2022-2025, Bac Ninh will focus on preserving and developing craft villages to maintain and promote values and traditional cultural identities, at the same time, boosting production, improving competitiveness, adding value for products, creating jobs for local people and protecting landscape, space and environment; and contributing to boosting sustainable rural socio-economic development.

The province strives to recognize 8 more traditional craft industries, 7 more craft villages and 12 more traditional craft villages. The average income of workers in craft villages in the province is over 8 million VND a person a month.

Aiming to achieve the above objectives, relevant departments, branches and localities should promote popularization of the Party’s and State’s guidelines and policies on the development of traditional craft villages.

Annually, it organizes classes to disseminate guidelines and policies to support the development of rural industries; especially popularizing and educating to raise the sense of responsibility for environmental protection, food safety, the movement against plastic waste, and using traditional products which are environmentally friendly.

In particular, the province realizes the planning of production zones, industrial clusters of craft villages and builds infrastructure associated with craft village tourist spots; encourages the application of modern science and technology and new technologies to handicraft production; focuses on supporting investment in purchasing advanced equipment and machinery, and uses environmentally friendly materials to minimize environmental pollution in craft villages.

In order to promote product consumption, the province will strengthen trade promotion, build brands, improve designs, and perfect products of traditional craft villages.

Bac Ninh will link craft villages with community tourism and experience tourism routes, especially supporting craft village establishments to expand production and business in association with the conservation and development of traditional cultural identities./.
