A delegation from the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports led by Minister Phout Simmalavong on May 12 visited and exchange experience in education development in Vietnam’s northern province of Bac Ninh.

Welcoming the delegation, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan briefly informed the province's socio-economic development in recent years, noting that Bac Ninh is one of the fastest growing provinces in the country, and it has gained important achievements in education and training, with a large number of pupils and students winning national, regional and international awards.

He also stressed that over the past time, Bac Ninh has carried out diverse activities on cultural and economic connection with Lao localities such as Hua Phan and Sam Nua.

Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong sincerely thanked the respectful reception of the leaders of Bac Ninh Province and highly appreciated the province's socio-economic development as well as the quality of education in the past time.

He said that Laos is striving to bring the education sector to a new level; however, it faces many difficulties, especially in the quality of training, the organization of teaching and learning in remote areas.

Expressing his belief that the working meeting in Bac Ninh will help the delegation learn from its experience in various fields, including education and sports, he added he hoped to welcome the delegation from Bac Ninh to Laos to continue strengthening exchanges and coordination in various fields, especially in education and training development, contributing to linking the friendship between the two countries.

Earlier, the delegation visited the Hanaka tennis court complex in Bac Ninh’s Tu Son City, where the 31st SEA Games tennis is being held. The delegation listened to the introduction about the largest tennis court complex in Asia located in an urban area with 6 outdoor courts, 1 indoor court of international standards, with a total capacity of over 5,000 seats, the use of VAR technology and the roof automatically open and closed.

Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong met and encouraged Lao tennis players to compete at the 31st SEA Games and wished the athletes success./.
