Rabindranath Tagore is one of India's great cultural celebrities. In 1913, Tagore was the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore's poetry contains profound philosophies about the universe, people, life, happiness and love. Not only a famous poet, Tagore was also a talented playwright, painter and composer. He was also the author of the National Anthems of India and Bangladesh.
In 1929, Tagore visited Saigon, Vietnam. This was an important milestone showing Tagore's influence in the international arena and in Vietnam. Many Vietnamese scholars have researched and translated Tagore's books. Many of his poems have also been included in textbooks in Vietnam's general education program.
On October 15, 2023, the statue of the great poet Tagore was inaugurated at the International Friendship Park of Bac Ninh province.
