Northern province sees increase in seafood production

In the first quarter of 2023, the total fishery production in Bac Ninh province was estimated at nearly 11,000 tons, reaching 26.7% of the plan and increasing by 0.3% over the same period in 2022, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported.

In which, the production in earthen ponds reached 9,020 tons; cage farming reached 1,490 tons; the output of other aquatic products reached 178 tons, while the rest was caught. The movement of raising fish in river cages continues to develop with 2,485 cages, an increase of 3.2% over the same period in 2022. The province has produced 39.6 million fish seedlings of all kinds.
In the first months of 2023, thanks to favorable weather conditions, the good preparation of seedlings the environment, and prompt forecasting and warning of aquatic diseases, serious aquatic diseases affecting the output have not occurred.
In the coming time, the agriculture and rural development sector will coordinate with localities to continue promoting the dissemination of the province's supporting policies in aquaculture, especially the application of advanced scientific and technological methods and the development of chain link; well perform the control of water sources and disease situation; instruct people on measures to protect farming areas in the rainy and stormy season; review and plan concentrated aquaculture areas, thereby, ensuring stable aquaculture, increasing value and people’s income./.
