A large number of Vietnam women across Vietnam have been wearing Ao dai from March 1 to 8 in response to ‘Ao Dai Week’ and International Women’s Day (March 8).
The “Ao Dai Week” was launched by the Vietnam Women’s Union to honour the beauty of the traditional dress and preserving and promoting Vietnam’s cultural heritage.
President of the Trade Union of the Ministry of Planning and Investment Le Thi Tuong Thu said that Ao Dai Week is an opportunity to honour the beauty of Vietnamese women and make them feel cherished and cared for. Wearing the traditional ao dai makes women feel more graceful and gentle, making life more colourful, she noted. Thu added that Ao Dai Week is a meaningful activity which enriches the movements of women and helps them love and respect themselves more, thereby spreading happiness to the other half of the world.
The Ao festival, which runs from March 5 to April 15, aims to introduce the beauty and convenience of Ao dai, making it familiar costumes of people in contribution to preserving the nation’s cultural identity and promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people.
