Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su said that this is a result of the joint effort of the provincial agricultural sector, cooperatives and locals in Tan Lac district, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The export of this fruit will be a great encouragement for local farms to strive for more export shipments of other agricultural products, he added.
Nguyen Huy Nhuan, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, stated that in addition to the expansion of cultivation areas, locals’ application of science and technology in the production has increased and they are well aware of the role of organic fertilisers.
Besides red-flesh grapefruit, Tan Lac is also shipping its sugarcane abroad. This year, the district has been granted six planting area codes for grapefruit to be exported to the European Union.
Currently, the district is growing citrus, including orange and grapefruit, on 1,523 hectares, of which 1,420 hectares are for business with an estimated output of 22,200 tonnes.
Vietnam honoured as Asia's Best Golf Destination 2022
The nation has been named as the Asia's Best Golf Destination 2022 at the ninth annual World Golf Awards which was recently held in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, said Radio the Voice of Vietnam.
The awards saw the country surpass strong rivals such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia to win the title.
Most notably, it marks the sixth consecutive year that Vietnam has been honoured with the Asian title since 2017.
Asia’s Best Golf Destination award is part of World Golf Awards, an event which has been held annually since 2014 and is widely viewed as the most prestigious award in the golf tourism industry.
Most notably, the Vietnam Tourism Golf Association (VTGA) also received the World's Best Golf Association 2022, while Els Performance Golf Academy also won the World's Best Par 3 Golf Course 2022.
The World Golf Awards celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism as a part of World Travel Awards.
This comes after the country was named as the World's Best Golf Destination at the annual World Golf Awards in both 2019 and 2021.
Currently, the country features roughly 100 golf courses, with a target to reach 200 by 2025.
2022 – Successful year for farm produce exports
The Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced the completion of opening the Japanese market for longan, the Chinese for sweet potato, and that of New Zealand for lime and grapefruit of Vietnam.
This year can be considered the most successful for the sector, as many agricultural products have gained access to the world markets, said Radio the Voice of Vietnam.
For the Chinese market, earlier this year, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) agreed to pilot import of Vietnamese passion fruits starting in July. After that, durian and banana were allowed to be imported into China through the signing of the protocols on phytosanitary requirements between the two countries. Most recently, another protocol was signed for China’s import of sweet potato from Vietnam.
Meanwhile, an agreement on the export of Vietnamese lime and grapefruit to New Zealand was signed by the ministry and New Zealand's Ministry of Agriculture on November 15. Three days later, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries also announced that Vietnamese fresh longan is allowed to be imported into the country.
Hoang Trung, Director of the department, said that the market opening and the signing of protocols for official export of agricultural products will create clear and transparent legal conditions, as well as motivation for Vietnamese farmers to produce more professionally, methodically and on a larger scale.
To boost the export of the new products allowed to be shipped abroad, the department will guide localities and relevant parties on regulations on import requirements of China, New Zealand and Japan.
They are advised to continue getting updated information, and strengthening connectivity to ensure smooth trading in existing markets and eye new ones.
