Sharing session on doing business in Vietnam

(CPV) - On 10th August 2021, the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi hosted a webinar titled “Sharing Session on Doing Business in Vietnam”. It is the first from series of webinar to be conducted by the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

The webinar was held virtually and was attended by around 130 participants via zoom app and around 110 participants on the Embassy’s youtube channel. It shows that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Vietnam is very close to the heart of many peoples of both countries. Most participants were business practitioners, academics, government official as well as students from both Indonesia and Vietnam.

At the opening of the webinar, the Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Denny Abdi stated that Indonesia and Vietnam together could be the engine of growth in the region. The Embassy had received a lot of inquiries on how to start business in Vietnam. Many Indonesian businesses also showed keen interest to open up trading possibilities with Vietnamese counterparts.

For this reason, the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi initiated this webinar that includes two successful Indonesian investors, one Vietnamese banker and two Vietnamese officials as speakers.

Complete list of speakers are as follows: Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata (Managing Director Ciputra Group), Mr. Giang Quoc Trung (Chairman of Urban Infrastructure Development Investment Corporation/UDIC – One Member Co. Ltd. Hanoi), Mr. Arif Widjaja (Country Head Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co. Ltd., Mrs. Vu Chi Mai (Hanoi Branch Manager Indovina Bank), and Mr. Nguyen Anh Duong (Director of the Department for General Economic Issues and Integration Studies, Central Institute for Economic Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam).

All speakers shared their knowledge and experience in conducting business in Vietnam. The importance of having reliable and credible partnership was also addressed as evidenced by harmonious relationship between Ciputra Group and UDIC for several decades. Japfa Comfeed Vietnam highlighted that with support of the Vietnamese government, the company has successfully opened six factories in Vietnam. Whilst Indovina Bank put the importance of reliable banking system to support foreign direct investment in Vietnam. Finally the last speaker Mr. Nguyen Anh Duong illustrated several key challenges as well as potential for greater collaboration between Indonesia and Vietnam in the future.

At closing, Ambassador Denny Abdi conveyed hope for the seminar to lay down strategic aspects for Indonesia – Vietnam businesses to collaborate, to confront challenges and to take better opportunities ahead./.
