District 6 proposes opening of Night Street

The District 6 People’s Committee has just proposed to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to approve the investment policy of the Chợ Lớn Night Street project. If approved, the night street will operate 18 hours a day.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said that it had sent documents to the departments, branches, the city's Public Security, the Food Safety Management Board, the Research and Development Institute for comments on the Night Street project associated with tourism development in District 6.

According to the project, Chợ Lớn Night Street is expected to operate from 6pm daily. The night street area would utilize the sidewalk space of 4 streets: Nguyen Huu Than, Thap Muoi, Le Tan Ke, and Tran Binh (in front of Binh Tay Market).

It has a scale of more than 1,500 m2, with 6 subdivisions with toilets and a management house. The parking lot subdivision is expected to have the largest scale with 42% of the total area.

The project has the highlight of Binh Tay market, architectural monuments and tourist attractions of Ho Chi Minh City.

Chợ Lớn Night Street combines with cultural and social values of Chợ Lớn area (district 5, district 6, and district 8) to enrich and diversify tourism products. Recently, the number of visitors to Binh Tay market is increasing, including many international tourists.

According to the People's Committee of District 6, Chợ Lớn Night Street is an area of cultural activities, commerce, services, entertainment and tourism with the focus of Binh Tay market. This night street is expected to be a lever to support the development of commercial activities at streets of Hau Giang - Thap Muoi, Minh Phung - Binh Tien, and Vo Van Kiet./.
