On November 29, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc had a meeting with Mr. Torsten Bonew, First Deputy Mayor of Leipzig City (Germany), on his business trip to Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, Mr. Duc expressed his delight at the good friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Germany over the past time with many good results.

According to Mr. Duc, Ho Chi Minh City and Leipzig have many similarities and complementary strengths as they are both important economic centers of Vietnam and Germany; the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement has come into effect and the Leipzig City Representative Office has opened in Ho Chi Minh City. “Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City wishes to cooperate with Leipzig in the areas that Leipzig has strengths in industry, information technology and education,” he said. “It also hopes that trade and investment between the two sides will be enhanced and further promoted in the coming time.”

On this occasion, he also thanked the Leipzig government for supporting Ho Chi Minh City in the field of medicine, specifically training and sending experts to share experiences with hospitals in the city and supporting the establishment of the Rehabilitation Laboratory of the Institute of Biomedical Physics.

For his part, Mr. Torsten Bonew said that Leipzig businesses are very interested in the investment environment and cooperation in Ho Chi Minh City. The establishment of the Leipzig City Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City is one of the important highlights to tighten the relationship between Germany - Vietnam in general, and Ho Chi Minh City with Leipzig in particular, thereby contributing to strengthening trade and investment relations. Besides trade and investment promotion, Mr. Torsten Bonew expressed his desire to cooperate with Ho Chi Minh City in the field of health and clean water.
