Ho Chi Minh City always stands by Osaka in fostering strong relationship

On September 23, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan welcomed Mr. Takahashi, Deputy Mayor of Osaka, Japan, on his courtesy visit, during his participation in the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue (FD 2024) and the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF 2024).

During the meeting, Mr. Takahashi expressed his gratitude to the Ho Chi Minh City government for inviting Osaka to participate in this series of events. He expressed his delight that Osaka and Ho Chi Minh City had renewed their memorandum of cooperation in May 2024, noting that the two cities share many similarities in their development priorities, particularly in promoting sustainable economic growth and building a workforce that meets the needs of sustainable development.
Mr. Takahashi shared his hope to present Osaka’s sustainable urban development projects in upcoming events and expressed his desire to learn from the experiences of other cities to help guide Osaka's development.
He also mentioned that the Osaka Expo 2025, scheduled to take place in Osaka, will feature carbon-free waste management technologies that will be highly beneficial. He extended a formal invitation to the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the activities in Osaka next year.
Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan praised the strong relationship between Vietnam and Japan, particularly between Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka. He emphasized that the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka is one of the most dynamic and effective local-level international partnerships for the city. Osaka has been identified as one of the 12 key localities in strategic partner countries that Ho Chi Minh City will prioritize promoting relations with from now until 2025.
He expressed confidence that based on the recently signed Memorandum of Friendship and Cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka, there will be numerous opportunities to realize and expand cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, environmental management, water management and human resource development.
On behalf of the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City, he reaffirmed that the city will continue to work closely with Osaka, constantly nurturing the strong relationship between the two cities, thereby strengthening the solidarity and bonds between the two nations and their people./.
