He noted that the two sides often support and strengthen each other's positions to maintain the role of Vietnam in Southeast Asia and Oman in the Middle East, as well as in the international region.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, thanks to the efforts of the two Governments, the bilateral relations between the two countries have made many achievements in all fields. "The two countries have good cooperative relations in economic and political fields, in which bilateral trade reached USD200 million in 2020," the Ambassador said.

Economic cooperation between Vietnam and Oman over the past time has witnessed strong positive growth, especially in terms of trade turnover. The two countries are in the process of negotiating to finalize other agreements to promote bilateral relations.

In terms of investment, the Vietnam Oman Investment (VOI) was established in 2008 as an important joint venture between the Oman Investment Authority, formerly known as the State General Reserve Fund of Oman, and the State Capital Investment Corporation of Vietnam. In more than 12 years since establishment, the VOI joint venture has disbursed more than USD300 million into businesses and projects in Vietnam, focusing on essential fields such as hi-tech agriculture, infrastructure, water treatment, renewable energy, pharmaceutical, medical and education.

In addition, the two countries also focused on promoting social security activities to support people and workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On September 23, Ambassador Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al Suqri, on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Oman, gave the representative of the Vietnam Fatherland Front USD300,000 support for a number of central provinces for flood prevention and recovery.

The Oman Government hopes the aid package will help ease some of the difficulties that families face after natural disasters, and hopes that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will grow more and more./.
