At the event, Chairman of the Thai-Vietnamese Association in Nakhon Phanom Tran Van Sau reminded the history of the Vietnamese Memorial Clock Tower which was built by the Vietnamese community in the province in 1960 to show their gratitude towards the Thai King and Government who welcomed them with great hospitality at the time of hardship.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh said that the clock tower has both historic and cultural significance and it helps boost the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

The ambassador expected that the Vietnamese people in Nakhon Phanom and across Thailand will always remember the warm welcome of the Thai government and people over the past years and together further deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries

Attending the event, Governor of Nakhon Phanom province Kayson Kongsalat said Nakhon Phanom province has cultural diversity because it has many ethnic minority groups living peacefully together.

He emphasized that the building of the clock tower has great meaning to the solidarity between Vietnamese and Thai peoples.

The event is not only a good opportunity to help people remind of the event in the past but also show a strong relationship between the two countries, he added./.
