Hung Kings Commemoration Day first held in RoK

Hung Kings Commemoration Day was first held by the Korea-Vietnam Economic and Cultural Association (KOVECA), the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese (ALOV) and the authority of Seocho district in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 11 with the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK.

The event, which was attended by representatives from the Vietnamese embassy, Vietnamese organisations, Seocho district, Hongcheon district, and Korean organisations, and overseas Vietnamese, aims to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, Minister Counselor from the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK, said the event is meaningful to the Vietnamese community in the RoK, helping to honour and introduce Vietnam's cultural and historical heritage to Koreans.

He highly appreciated efforts of the ALOV and the KOVECA in organizing the event, hoping that it will be held annually.

The event is also an opportunity for young overseas Vietnamese, who was born in the RoK to remember their origin as well as help Korean people understand more about the history, culture, country and people of Vietnam, actively contributing to the development of the Vietnam-Korea comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the coming years.

In addition to offering incense to Hung Kings, participants also enjoyed performances with Vietnamese traditional musical instruments and folk dances. Apart from that, participants also enjoyed Korean traditional hanbok costumes and Vietnamese cuisine./.
