Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Consul General in Preah Sihanouk Vu Ngoc Ly highly appreciated the joining of hands and spirit of support of Vietnamese benefactors in the region, saying that the gesture contributes to helping the Vietnamese community in the host country feel secure, stabilizing their lives and lowering pressure to return home in the current period.

The Consul General shared that due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, medical isolation areas in Vietnam, especially in border areas, have been under a lot of pressure. It is very difficult for medical isolation areas to receive more people.

Therefore, Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly called on overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia to temporarily overcome difficulties and avoid returning home at this time, even though the Cambodian side on August 20 lifted the temporary restriction on Vietnamese citizens from entering and leaving the country through the Cambodia-Vietnam border.

He emphasized that for those living in the provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kampot, Kep, Kampong Speu and Takeo, if there is an essential reason to return home, they should contact the Consulate General to register for entry. Those who have extremely difficult economic circumstances and need help can contact the Consulate General for timely support./.
