At the event, President of the UGVB Huynh Cong My highlighted the significance of the Tet festival with the overseas Vietnamese, and affirmed the union’s role in connecting the overseas Vietnamese with the homeland’s culture.

Extending Tet wishes to the Vietnamese community, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao emphasized the sound ties between Vietnam and Belgium, and expressed his hope for the future development of the relations with the upcoming visit by Belgian King and Queen to Vietnam in October.

At the event, the cultural centre of Woluwe Saint-Pierre district of Brussels was decorated to turn into a warm Tet space, and became a favourite check-in point of visitors. It featured a calligraphy corner where Jean-Sébastien Gill – a French national who is a fan of the art of calligraphy – wrote New Year wishes for the overseas Vietnamese, and a charity corner where handicrafts were sold to raise money for children in difficult circumstances in Vietnam.

In addition, visitors also had a chance to enjoy art performances staged by Vietnamese artists in Europe and Vietnamese children, who were born and grown up in Belgium.

“Spring of Love” program created a gathering and connecting space for the Vietnamese community in the host country and was also an important activity in preserving and developing the cultural heritage of the Vietnamese people in the hearts of young generations./.
