Vietnam - top priority market in Southeast Asia of Australia’s Queensland

At the meeting, Mr. Justin McGowan expressed his satisfaction with the positive progress in relations between the two countries, especially recent results in trade and investment relations between Vietnam and the state of Queensland.

Mr. Justin McGowan affirmed that the state of Queensland focuses on implementing the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 and the Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy to 2032, which attaches importance to cooperation with Vietnam, considering Vietnam the top priority market in Southeast Asia and among the top five international trading partners.

Welcoming the increasing interest and presence of Vietnamese businesses in Queensland, including Sovico Group, Vingroup, TH Group and Vietjet Air, Mr. Justin McGowan pledged to create favorable conditions for other businesses to promote investment and business plans in the state of Queensland.

He also shared the state’s potential and strengths, especially in the fields of agriculture, mining, renewable energy and education.

Agreeing to coordinate to welcome delegations from Vietnamese localities to visit Queensland in the coming time, Mr. McGowan also hoped that the two sides would increase activities to promote people-to-people exchanges, especially between friendly parliamentary groups of the two countries.

Ambassador Pham Hung Tam said that the two sides have much potential for cooperation, especially in trade and investment.

He proposed that the two sides increase two-way investment, including promoting investment in new fields such as clean energy, digital transformation and expanding investment in other potential fields such as high quality agriculture.

In addition, the Ambassador also shared the plan to exchange local delegations, asking Queensland to coordinate and support these delegations in the future; promoting the renewal of cooperation agreements between Queensland state and Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City./.
