The presentation ceremony of the 6th Golden Lion Award in the field of international and inter-regional cooperation was held by the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg City, Russia, on December 19 in the city.
The Golden Lion Award, which was started from 2017, was presented to ten individuals in ten categories for their contributions to the development of external relations between Saint Petersburg city and foreign partners; popularizing the Russian language and culture; preserving historical memories, promoting investment projects, and promoting export potential in 2022.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Director of the Traditions and Friendship Fund, which aims to promote Russia-Vietnam cooperation, emphasized that the award affirms the high appreciation of the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg and the city government for the efforts and achievements of the Vietnamese community in Russia, especially the Vietnamese community in Saint Petersburg city.
He affirmed that the Saint Petersburg city government decided to choose Vietnam as a priority direction in the city's foreign policy, which has made a breakthrough in promoting bilateral relations, with various events, conferences, seminars, forums and information exchanges between delegations, businesses, and social organizations.
According to him, cooperation between Saint Petersburg city and Vietnamese localities has become a model for cooperation between the localities of the two countries.
Mr. Hung emphasized that the Vietnamese Association in Russia is proud to have accompanied the Committee for External Relations of Saint-Petersburg in its cooperation projects.
In 2023, Vietnam and Russia will celebrate the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's first visit to Petrograd, now named Saint Petersburg. People of the two countries are looking forward to the event of erecting a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the "northern capital" of Russia on this important occasion./.
