Vietnamese Embassy in Israel held talk about Dien Bien Phu victory

The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel in collaboration with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem organized a talk about the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory and signing of the Geneva Agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Vietnam (1954 - 2024).

At the talk, Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Ly Duc Trung introduced to students of Hebrew University of Jerusalem about Vietnam's socio-economic achievements in recent years.

At the talk, students studying international relations and Asian studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem watched documentaries and listened to representatives of the Defense Attache Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel review the main milestones of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

This historic victory helped end the invasion of French colonialism, and created a turning point that led to the signing of the Geneva Agreement (July 21, 1954) to end the war and restore peace in Indo-China.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Ly Duc Trung also introduced Vietnam's socio-economic achievements in recent years, the process of Vietnam growing from a war-torn country to an attractive destination for foreign investors and tourists; reviewing the developments in bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Israel in all fields after 31 years when the two countries establishing diplomatic relations (July 12, 1993-July 12, 2024); and responded to questions asked by students.

The students at Hebrew University of Jerusalem expressed their excitement at the information they received from the talk.

 “I think Vietnam has an admirable history. You had to face many difficulties but you all know how to overcome them. In this sense, Vietnam is a source of inspiration for all nations," said Manana Shimsilashvili, a student studying Japanese studies.

Previously, Ambassador Ly Duc Trung and officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel also had a discussion on the above topics with a number of lecturers, scholars of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and representatives of the Israel-Vietnam Friendship Association./.
