The conference was attended by 40 Vietnamese scientists and experts who are living and working in the UK.

Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Tran Ngoc An said that the idea of the association’s establishment has been ignited for a long time, as there are many Vietnamese intellectuals living and working in the UK.

Therefore, the Embassy wanted to create a forum for Vietnamese intellectuals to connect with and support each other, then through practical activities, they can better contribute to the development of Vietnam’s science, technology and socio-economy, the ambassador said.

In addition, the association is hoped to promote relations with a network of leading scientific research facilities, consultation organizations, intellectuals and experts of the UK and the world; and acts as a bridge linking Vietnamese scientists and their counterparts in the UK, consolidating the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership.

At the conference, an executive board of the VIS-UK, including nine members, was elected.

Prof. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, President of the organization, pledged that executive members will make efforts to fulfil targets and hold activities to attract more intellectuals and experts./.
