When Uncle Ho was still alive, he visited Quang Ninh 9 times. Together with hundreds of telegraphs and letters of merit and newspaper articles on the mining region, he left a wealth of advice for cadres, soldiers and people in the province. Responding to his special attention, the people of Quang Ninh have set out to realise his testament and teachings to make the province stronger and wealthier.

Mr. Mai Huu Phan, a resident in Cam Binh ward, Cam Pha city, is very proud to have met Uncle Ho when he was a coal worker. “I always remember Uncle Ho’s teachings on saving, production and collective spirit,” he said. “Our colleagues and children are continuing to obey his teachings, contributing to gradually making the coal industry become an exemplary economic industry and the province prosper with Uncle Ho’s previous aspiration.”

Meanwhile, veteran Nguyen Tai Lu in Quang Hanh ward, Cam Pha city keeps in his heart Uncle Ho’s teachings from his first meeting on Van Hoa Island. He said Uncle Ho had told navy soldiers to love the islands like their homes, and upgrade the islands to become prosperous pieces of land.

More and more memories about Uncle Ho and his teachings were recited when he visited Titov, Tuan Chau and Ngoc Vung islands as well as border Mong Cai area and Uong Bi city.

Marking Uncle Ho’s 125th birthday on Co To island, Vu Hong Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, said that under the light of Uncle Ho’s ideology and ethics, the province has creatively carried out the Party and State policies to turn a underdeveloped province into a productive example for others, in many areas of the socio-economic development.

Since 2010, Quang Ninh province has been listed one of five localities with the highest budget collection, with the average economic growth rate of 10% per year over the past 20 years, the average income per capita in 2014 reaching USD3,500, 1.5 times higher than the average income of the country.

Being one of leading localities in realising the program on building new style rural areas, as of late 2014, the province reduced the poverty rate to only 1.75%, with much progress recorded in the cultural, social, healthcare, educational and social welfare areas. As security and defence has always been maintained, its international relations have also been expanded./.
