More than VND8 trillion spent on COVID-19 prevention

The State budget has so far spent more than VND8 trillion to fund vaccines, purchase of chemicals, biological products and medical equipment for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Finance has reported.

According to the ministry, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a resolution on using VND12.1 trillion from the saving source in 2020 to buy COVID-19 vaccines.

Additionally, VND13.1 trillion has also been earmarked to give support to over 13 million people affected by the pandemic, mainly the poor (nearly 8 million people), social beneficiaries (nearly 3 million), revolutionary contributors (over 1 million), and 1.3 million people who lost jobs.

The ministry has also sent a document to centrally-governed provinces and cities on giving more assistance to the pandemic fighters./.
