The National Tourism Year 2018, organized in Quang Ninh, is a national and international cultural and socio-economic event; contributing to raising awareness of the international community about sustainable tourism development, introducing and promoting cultural value and tourism products of Quang Ninh.
It includes main activities such as the opening ceremony and Carnaval Sun Ha Long 2018, the opening ceremony of ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019, and Ha Long golf tournament - FLC 2019, the opening of Yen Tu Festival, Cherry Blossom and Yen Tu Yellow Apricot Flower Festival 2018 and related events inside and outside the locality.
At the session, participants discussed and contributed ideas on the title, theme, contents and programs of the national tourism year.
In her report on preparations for the event, Ms. Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Head of the provincial People’s Committee, said that over the past time, Quang Ninh surveyed and studied experiences from other localities in organization; developed a draft plan and programs for the event; strengthened training; improved the quality of human resources; and actively cooperated to promote and build the trademark.

For infrastructure, the province is boosting the progress of some important projects such as Ha Long - Hai Phong highway, the path to Bac Luan II bridge, Van Don International Airport, Ha Long - Van Don highway and Van Don - Mong Cai highway.
In addition, Quang Ninh also attached importance to investment in a number of cultural and sporting institutions and projects, and tourism products of big investors like Sungroup, Vingroup, BIM group and FLC group.
Currently, the locality focused on four tourism product groups for the event, including Ha Long tourism, border tourism, cultural-historical-spiritual tourism and island tourism.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, 12th PCC member, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Head of the Steering Committee, hailed Quang Ninh’s experiences and preparations for the national tourism year and asked the locality to closely coordinate with Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to agree on contents and work in the coming time./.
