International visitor arrivals to Vietnam reached nearly 1.4 million in 2023, up 11.2% from the previous month and up 93.9% compared the same period last year. The month recorded the highest number of international visitors arriving the country in 2023.

According to the General Statistics Office, international visitors to Vietnam reached an estimated 12.6 million, 3.4 times higher than 2022, far exceeding the target of 8 million international visitors in 2023 but only equal to 70% of 2019.
Meanwhile, some 5 million Vietnamese travelled abroad in the year, two times that in 2022. During the final month of 2023, the number was estimated at 352,100, a rise of 23.2% from the same period last year.
Among more than 12 million international visitors to Vietnam this year, visitors arriving by air reached nearly 11 million, accounting for 87% the toal and 3.3 times higher than last year and those by road reached 1.5 million people, accounting for 12% and 4 times higher than last year.
Revenue from lodging and catering services this year reached 673.5 trillion VND (27.77 billion USD), accounting for 10.8% of the total value and expanding by 14.7% compared to the previous year.
The agency attributed the hikes to efforts by localities in developing tourism products, and cultural and sport activities, with Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Can Tho among those reporting increases in tourism revenue./.
