First plastic-free hotel in Vietnam announced

Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort in Hoi An ancient town, Quang Nam province has become the first Zero Plastic Waste Resort in Vietnam by using eco-friendly materials and completely eliminating plastic waste from the local environment, with no more single-use plastics being used on site at an announcement ceremony on September 9.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province Nguyen Thanh Hong shared that after years of maintaining a sustainable development, the resort has made efforts to limit negative impacts with a specific focus on protecting the natural environment and creating sustainable value for the community.
He added that as the first “Plastic-free hotel" model to be applied in the country, the resort has contributed to spreading a message of environmental protection and sustainable tourism , as well as building a green brand for the Vietnamese tourism industry.
At the event, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh also emphasized that thanks to great efforts of the entire city aimed at developing zero-waste tourism, Hoi An has maintained its position as a leading destination in implementing environmental protection measures in the country.

He added that the association is actively implementing a project called "Reducing Plastic Waste in the Tourism Industry in Vietnam”, and will continue to apply the plastic-free hotel model across the country.
According to Tran Thai Do, investor of Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort, the resort is always paying attention to environmental protection for sustainable development.
All the things in the resort are made of/from materials that are environmentally friendly.
Saying “no’ to plastic waste and single-use plastics demonstrates Silk Sense’s social responsibility, partly contributing to creating the green brand for Vietnam’s tourism industry, he said./.
