HCMC promotes medical tourism in Thailand

The Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Department of Tourism on June 21 coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to organize a program to promote Vietnam-HCMC tourism in Thailand's capital Bangkok.

The event is held to introduce the image of tourist destinations, update new tourism products and services of Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular, especially promotion of medical tourism to travel organizations, agents, companies, hospitals, prestigious and professional medical facilities on medical tours from Thailand.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh said that Vietnam and Thailand have close geographical locations, well-developed land and air transport connections.

Tourism products of the two countries are suitable for people's tastes, so bilateral tourism cooperation, including medical tourism, has great potential and favorable conditions for development, he said.

He expressed his hope that through the cooperation, the two can jointly develop the medical tourism industry, bringing benefits to both local people and international visitors.

The Ambassador affirmed that HCMC is not only the leading economic and political center of Vietnam, but also a remarkable medical tourism destination in the world. With a modern and high-quality medical system, along with the continuous development of medical centers, HCMC will become an ideal destination for tourists wishing to improve their health and experience high-quality medical therapies, he added.

The organizing board also screened short films introducing the tourism, culture and cuisine of Vietnam-HCMC. In addition, representatives of businesses, hospitals and medical facilities in Vietnam shared and introduced tourism products and services at the event.

Moreover, within the framework of the program, there is also a business connection activity, helping businesses of the two countries to explore and promote cooperation opportunities in the field of medical tourism.
