Interesting activities for tourists on capital liberation day

Numerous destinations in Hanoi are organizing attractive events and activities to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the capital city’s liberation day (October 10, 1954-2023).

Besides, Hanoi has many historical relics associated with special and important events of the capital and the whole country. Therefore, visitors will have many interesting and meaningful experiences when visiting the capital on this occasion.

Diverse activities in city downtown

An exhibition showcasing 100 documents and photos featuring Hoan Kiem Lake is underway on Le Thai To pedestrian street. Deputy Head of the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Tran Thi Thuy Lan said that the exhibition gives visitors insight into changes of the lake from the early 19th century to the middle of the 20th century.

In Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), an exhibition is also being held, spotlighting Hanoi, 15 years after  expanding its administrative boundaries.

Ms. Shofia Loren, a British tourist, shared: “I am very excited when looking at beautiful photos of Hanoi, they help me better understand the speed of development of your Capital.”

The exhibition lasts until October 11, and is expected to bring many new experiences to visitors coming to Hanoi on this occasion.

On the occasion, the Management Board of Hoa Lo Prision, a historical relic site of Hanoi, has also hosted an exhibition highlighting the liberation of the capital city 69 years ago.

Meanwhile, various activities have been held in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, including an exhibition on the history, culture, land and people of Thang Long-Hanoi from the 19th until the mid-20th century.

Director of Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center Nguyen Thanh Quang shared that the event helps the Imperial Citadel offer a more attractive experience for tourists in October.

Alongside, many stages in the capital city have also introduced attractive art programmes and performances, giving visitors more options in the evening when visiting Hanoi.

Good opportunity to lure tourists

Hanoi is entering the peak months of welcoming visitors, especially international visitors. Cultural and entertainment events organized on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the capital city’s liberation day will be a good opportunity to attract more tourists to Hanoi.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Travel Association Phung Quang Thang said Hanoi has many historical relic sites associated with major historical events, including the capital city’s liberation. The Hanoi flag tower, Hanoi Opera House, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hanoi Station and Dong Xuan Market are among popular destinations for visitors keen on exploring the history of the city, he said.

The appearance and image of the capital in the autumn days of October are very attractive. Vice Director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency Nguyen Thi Mai Anh said that from the end of September, the city has organised many activities to celebrate the liberation day, including an Autumn Festival that attracted 80,000 visitors.

According to Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang, events promoting Hanoi tourism continue to take place until the end of October, typically an upcoming “Ao dai” (traditional long dress) Festival.

“The events offered great opportunity for Hanoi to increase its appeal to tourists with attractive and unique cultural, artistic, and tourism products. The department will increase promotion to make tourists love Hanoi more,” Ms. Dang Huong Giang shared./.
