The number of international visitors to Vietnam in January 2024 reached more than 1.5 million, up 10.3% against December 2023 and up 73.6% over the same period last year, according to the Vietnam National Tourism Authority.
This is the highest number of international visitors since Vietnam reopened tourism from March 2022, equivalent to the number of international visitors to the country in January 2019, before the COVID-19 epidemic.

Of the total, nearly 1.3 million, or 85.1%, traveled to Vietnam by air, 11.7% on road, and 3.2% by sea.
Currently, the Republic of Korea continues to be the largest market sending tourists to Vietnam with 418,000 arrivals (accounting for 27.6%), followed by China with 242,000 arrivals, Taiwan (China) with 84,000 arrivals, and the US with 76,000 arrivals.
European markets also contributed strongly to this growth. The UK, France, Germany and Russia are the largest tourist sending markets from Europe, with significant growth.
The authority attributed the increases to the country’s efforts to promote tourism, and affirm itself as a safe and friendly destination.
In the month, revenue from accommodation and catering services was estimated at 58.9 trillion VND (2.4 billion USD), up 10.2% over the same period last year, while travel and tourism revenue were 4.4 trillion VND, an increase of 18.5%./.
