This was the first month since the beginning of 2023, the tourism industry welcomed over 1 million international visitors in just 1 month. Generally in 7 months, the total number of international visitors reached nearly 6.6 million arrivals, equivalent to 83% of the plan in 2023.
The latest statistics showed that domestic visitors in July 2023 reached 12.5 million, of which 8.3 million guests stayed. The total number of domestic visitors in the first 7 months of the year reached 76.5 million. Total revenue from tourists in the first 7 months of the year was estimated at VND416.6 trillion.
In terms of market size, the Republic of Korea continued to be the largest sending market in the first seven months of 2023 with nearly 1.9 million arrivals, accounting for nearly one-third of visitors. China ranked second, reaching 738,000; and the US ranked third with 445,000 arrivals.
Among the top 10 markets, Northeast Asia had 4 markets: the Republic of Korea, China, Taiwan (China) and Japan. Meanwhile, Southeast Asia reported 3 markets: Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia. Australia ranked 9th position and India ranked 10th place.
In Europe, the UK, France and Germany were the largest sending markets. The Russian market reached 69.9 thousand arrivals in the first 7 months of the year.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, with the achievement of 83% of the full-year plan to welcome international visitors after only the first 7 months of the year, it is likely that the tourism industry will soon complete its goals and continue to grow when it comes to the peak season of international tourism at the end of the year./.
