Vietnam and Cambodia are the only two Southeast Asian countries to be included in a list of 10 friendliest destinations as voted by foreign tourists, Canadian magazine The Travel reported.

The list was based on a survey by InterNations, the largest global community and information site for people who live and work abroad, which interviewed 12,000 respondents across 186 countries and territories.
When participating in the survey, international visitors will assess the friendliness of the people in each country towards foreigners. Having fun meeting with locals is considered a meaningful part of tourists trips.
Though there is a language barrier, foreign visitors to Vietnam always receive smiles from locals. "Locals will want to interact and engage with them to make them feel welcome," the magazine added.
Other destinations on the list were Canada, Colombia, Oman, Costa Rica, Bahrain, Mexico and Portugal.
Earlier, the magazine also named Vietnam among the 10 cheapest countries to work remotely.
According to a report by Google Destination Insights, Vietnam was the 7th most searched destination in the period from March to June. This is the only country in Southeast Asia that makes it to the top 20 most searched destinations.
The rise of Vietnam's tourism is reflected in the number of international visitors. Statistics released by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism showed that Vietnam welcomed more than 5.5 million international visitors in the first six months of 2023, exceeding the total number of international visitors in 2022. The increase mainly came from Chinese, Indian and Korean tourists./.
