On May 11, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that according to data from Google's travel trend tracking tool, the number of searches for Vietnamese tourist accommodation is increasing, ranking 11th in the world, showing a strong recovery in tourism demand in Vietnam.

Accordingly, Vietnam is currently ranked 11th in the world, in the group with an increase of 10% to 25%. The top countries also include Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Croatia, US, France, Canada, the Netherlands and the Philippines.

In Southeast Asia, Vietnam and the Philippines are two of the top countries in the world. Other countries in the region ranked far behind, including Thailand (ranked 24th), Singapore (ranked 33rd), Indonesia (ranked 44th) and Malaysia (ranked 45th).

The foreign markets with the most searches for Vietnam tourism include: USA, Japan, Australia, Singapore, India, Thailand, France, Germany, UK and the Republic of Korea.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in the first four months of 2023, Vietnam welcomed nearly 3.7 million international visitors, exceeding the figure of 2022, reaching nearly 50% of the planned target in 2023. As the demand trend is continuing to increase, the international tourism market is also likely to grow strongly in 2023, especially in the peak season in the last months of the year.

Currently, the Republic of Korea will still be the largest market for Vietnamese tourism, followed by the US. Although the Chinese market has just returned, it is already in the third position and is expected to recover at a faster rate than other markets due to its large market size. The Chinese visitor market is expected to recover faster from the summer of 2023 and increase sharply in the last months of this year.

Meanwhile, the Australian and Indian markets are having the opportunity to increase the number of visitors to Vietnam, as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have just opened direct flights connecting major cities between the two sides. In Southeast Asia, markets in Thailand and Cambodia are recovering well, similar to the time before the COVID-19 pandemic./.
