Vietnamese visitors to Japan set new record in 11 months

Vietnamese visitors to Japan in Jan-Nov 2023 have surpassed the record level of 2019 and set a new record.

This information has just been announced by the Japan National Tourism Organization in Vietnam on December 20.

Specifically, the number of Vietnamese tourists to Japan in the 11 months reached 536,800, surpassing the record number of 495,051 in 2019 and setting a new record.

According to JNTO, statistics about foreign tourists to Japan in December will be announced in January 2024, thus, the estimated number of Vietnamese tourists to the market in the whole year of 2023 will be higher.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio said that 2023 witnessed many great exchange activities, including high-level leadership exchanges between the two countries. This year, the relationship between Japan and Vietnam flourished in all fields: Politics, economics and culture.

At the summit between President Vo Van Thuong and Prime Minister Kishida in Japan last November, the two sides agreed to elevate the relationship to a “comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and stability in Asia and the world”.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, assessed that Japan is among countries first chosen by Vietnamese people when traveling abroad because of safety, civilized and polite people, and many attractive tourist products such as cherry blossom viewing and autumn leaves, culinary culture, and quality shopping./.

Vietnam is also one of the favorite destinations of Japanese tourists. In the 11 months of 2023, Vietnam welcomed nearly 530,000 Japanese visitors, placing the country among the top 5 sending markets for Vietnamese tourism./.
