Quang Ninh sees CPI rise of 0.42 percent in August

Quang Ninh Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August climbed 0.42 percent against the previous month, according to the province’s statistics office.

The index of almost all commodity groups saw slight increases, including foodstuff (0.49 percent), beverage and cigarette (0.04 percent), garments, hats and footwear (0.11 percent), housing, electricity, water and building materials (0.95 percent). The highest price hike went to the transport group at 1.34 percent.

August CPI in the province soared 5.26 percent over a year previous. Goods and other services had the highest CPI rise at 10.1 percent, followed by transport (8.73 percent) and medicine and health devices (8.87 percent). Food was the only commodity with CPI reduction.

In August, gold and the US dollar, which are excluded from the CPI calculation basket, had price rises of 0.23 percent and 0.54 percent from the previous month, respectively.

Total commodity retail in the province reached an estimated VND2.8 trillion this month, a 1.2 percent rise from a month previous. It brought the figure for the first eight months this year to more than VND21.9 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 8.4 percent./.
