On September 26th, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with the Quang Ninh People’s Committee, organized the Vietnam – South Africa trade and investment workshop.
At the workshop, Ms. Kgomotso Ruth Magau, South African Ambassador to Vietnam, said that South Africa is rich in resources and has much development potential in the fields of mine ores, consuming commodities, infrastructure, capital, science and technology equipment and transport.
Since the two countries established diplomatic ties, the bilateral relations are increasingly consolidated and promoted in many fields. Currently, South Africa is one of the largest export markets of Vietnam in Africa. In 2012, export and import turnover reached USD613 million, in which Vietnam’s export turnover posted over USD522 million.
Representative from the Quang Ninh Investment Promotion and Support Board introduced preferential policies for projects the province calling for investment. The board pledged that it will work alongside investors and will supply electricity, water and transport infrastructure to projects. In addition, it will have policies to support vocational training for workers and carry out premise clearance for projects in Quang Ninh.
The workshop was held to create opportunities for Quang Ninh businesses to study and develop a multifaceted cooperation with the South Africa./.
