Over the first 9 months of the year, the northern province of Quang Ninh harvested an estimated amount of over 67,400 tons of fisheries products, accounting for 79.6% of the plan and a year-on-year increase of 2.1%, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported.

Of which, the harvest from natural fishing grounds reached over 43,200 tons and aquaculture production reached over 24,100 tons, with the largest amounts in mollusc, shrimp and fish.
According to localities’ report, the aquaculture area was estimated at 20,100 hectares, including 16,730 hectares saltwater and brackish water, and 3,370 hectares of fresh water.
The total harvest was brought about thanks to the strict inspection for epidemics by the fisheries sector, with the number of epidemics sharply reducing compared to 2012./.
