On October 9, the Cua Ong Coal Selection Company under the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group inaugurated and put into use a treatment plant treating mud discharged from coal sorting factories to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Quang Ninh province.
The USD11.8 million project was built in late 2012 and it can process 1 million tonnes of mud every year.
The project includes a filter factory covering more than 1,000 square meters, a coal storage unit, a house for air compressing machine and other supporting items.
The plant is expected to help reduce environmental pollution in Bai Tu Long Bay and its surrounding areas.
The Cua Ong Coal Selection Company processes more than 10 million tonnes of coal annually. Its capacity is expected to rise to 14-15 million tonnes in the future./.
