Trade turnover between Vietnam and India reached an estimated USD6.36 billion in Jan-July 2018, a 50.16% rise over a year earlier, said the General Department of Customs.

Of this, Vietnam’s export turnover to India was estimated at USD3.92 billion, up 96% compared to USD2 billion of the same period last year, while India’s exports to the country were valued at USD2.44 billion, up 9.2%. Trade surplus reached USD1.48 billion.
Over the past 7 months, exports of Vietnam’s main commodities continued to grow sharply. Machinery, equipment and spare parts affirmed the leading position with export value of USD1.23 billion, up 586.9% over a year earlier or 31.5% of Vietnam’s total export turnover to the market.
It was followed by mobile phone and components at USD469.45 million (up 71.6%); computer, electronic products and spare parts at USD379.54 million (up 25.5%); and common metals and products at USD352.96 million (up 38.9%).
Export turnover of some Vietnamese goods such as bamboo, iron and steel products, transportation and equipment, plastic and rubber products also increased stably.
Meanwhile, imports from India were valued at USD2.44 billion, a year-on-year rise of 9.2%. Vietnam mainly imported materials to serve domestic production, thus cotton seized the largest import turnover at USD314.55 million, up 43.7%; followed by corn and animal feed.
In addition, import turnover of ordinary metal, automobile spare parts, plastic materials, ore and minerals from India continued to rise. Specifically, Vietnam imported 5.222 CBU autos, worth USD24.88 million./.
