Intensifying aviation cooperation between Vietnam and Japan

Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc has met Mr. Osamu Shinobe, Vice Chairman of ANA Holdings Inc., as part of his attendance at the 10th Mekong - Japan summit in Tokyo.

At the reception, the PM hailed the significant role of Japanese businesses in promoting the relationship of the two countries and thanked them for their participation and practical contribution to Vietnam’s development. He asserted Vietnam pledged to create the best business climate for Japanese businesses while proposing they expand activities and increase connection with Vietnamese companies.
The government leader asked ANA, being the biggest aviation group of Japan, to boost cooperation with Vietnam’s air carriers, while encouraging the group to purchase more shares of Vietnam Airlines and cooperate with the national carrier to train and develop aviation human resources.
Mr. Osamu Shinobe hailed the assistance of the Vietnamese government and pledged to cooperate with Vietnam Airlines to expand aviation activities in the near future. The group is promoting projects of developing popular Vietnamese destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc into competitive hot spots in the region and the world.
He affirmed ANA is ready to assist the Japanese government to create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to enter the country.
ANA is the largest airline in Japan by revenue and passenger number. Founded in 1952, ANA flies today on 87 international routes and 114 domestic routes. In May, 2016, the group became a strategic partner of Vietnam Airlines.
The two sides actively carried out a comprehensive cooperative deal in trade, services, technique and training in order to utilize each others’ strengths, expand the aviation network and increase competitiveness./.
