Foreign pepper associations survey Vietnam’s market

Nearly 40 representatives from pepper associations of the US, China and some European and African countries together with domestic and foreign pepper purchasers, made a fact-finding visit on December 5th in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

The visit aims to survey the area, productivity, quality and methods of producing pepper in the locality, thereby helping companies and partners specify the potential of pepper of Ba Ria - Vung Tau in particular and Vietnam in general.
In addition, this is also a chance for Vietnam’s pepper to connect with foreign purchasers and importers to study about the standards and demand of the world market, then find the right directions for production and business of the commodity.
The Agro Processing and Market Development Authority reported pepper export volume in November reached an estimated 120,000 tons, valued at USD38 million, bringing the total volume for the first 11 months of 2018 to 220,000 tons, worth USD718 million, a 8.9% rise in volume but a 32.5% decrease in value year on year./.
