Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), said that after Vietnam allowed the import of pork from Russia, Russia also officially announced permission to import processed chicken from Vietnam. The CP Vietnam Company will be the first enterprise licensed to export processed chicken products to Russia.
To be allowed to export the product to the Russian market, businesses must comply with the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the Russian Federation’s principles of disease safety and food safety.
According to Dr. Long, during a trip to Vietnam in late October 2019, the Russian Veterinary Department delegation visited Vietnamese production facilities and highly appreciated the businesses’ technology.
“One of the requirements is to build a disease free area,” said Dr. Long, adding that over the past time, Vietnamese veterinary sector had developed and maintained 32 disease free areas at district and provincial levels, 138 at communal level and 1,662 at farm level.
Currently, the Vietnamese and Russian sides are completing remaining procedures allowing Vietnamese businesses to bring chicken to Russia.
Some businesses have informed us that they can produce 1 million poultry per week. Many Vietnamese poultry processing companies can meet requirements in exporting products to the most fastidious markets, especially in few threats of poultry disease.
According to experts’ assessments, Vietnam's processed chicken meat being officially licensed to export to Russia will open the door to conquer the large markets of countries in the Eurasian Economic Union, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
Meanwhile, meeting the standards for raising, slaughtering and processing chicken facilitates export of not only chicken, but also other livestock products./.
