On May 17-18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee and the Korean Embassy in Vietnam to organize the 5th Meet Korea 2023 event, with the participation of nearly 500 delegates.
The Meet Korea model continued to attract a lot of attention from Vietnamese and Korean businesses and localities, an opportunity for the parties to exchange, connect, share experiences and seek cooperation opportunities in many fields.
Speaking at the opening of the event, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his delight at the remarkable developments in diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, and affirmed that the relationship between the two countries is in a very good developing stage. The upgrade of relations to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is a historic milestone, opening a new, stronger and more substantive development period for the two countries' relations. Vietnam and the Republic of Korea have become each other's leading partners in many fields. In particular, cooperation in economy, trade and investment is both a pillar and a driving force for cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, said that the event is important in promoting trade and investment promotion, opening up opportunities for businesses and investors to exchange, learn, connect and cooperate with Bac Ninh province as well as other provinces and cities in the northern region.
At the same time, it is expected that the strengths and experiences in technology, finance, international market networks, and business administration skills of Korean enterprises, when combined with the advantages of localities, will bring great and practical benefits to both sides.
In Bac Ninh province, Korean investors are running 960 projects with the total investment capital of over USD14.34 billion, accounting for 60% of the total foreign investment capital of the province. There are over 6,400 Koreans working and living in Bac Ninh province, accounting for 48% of the number of foreign workers in the province.
Sharing at the event, Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Oh Young Ju emphasized the special meaning of the event, including the attendance of more than 150 Vietnamese - Korean businesses and agencies, and being the first meeting after the two countries upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
At the first exchange session on expanding investment and promoting cooperation in supply chains and production chains, representatives of Vietnamese localities shared about cooperation with Korean partners, and introduced the priority projects calling for investment from the Korean side./.
