(CPV) - The 2023 Vietnam Economic and Social Forum entered the 2nd session, themed “Improving labor productivity, ensuring social security in the new context”, on September 19.

In his speech at the event, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) Nguyen Duc Hai said, implementing the Party’s policies, the government has proposed many solutions to support poverty reduction, ensure social security, and encourage the active participation of the entire society; significantly contributing to reducing the number of poor households, increasing the number of well-off houtseholds, and gradually improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

One of the effective solutions is the formation of a credit channel specifically for the poor and vulnerable groups in society, he stressed.

Accordingly, social policy credit is designed as a synchronous policy system with multi-dimensional support to solve basic and essential problems in the lives of the poor and other policy beneficiaries; limit and repel usury. Social policy credit has contributed to promoting socio-economic development according to the orientations of the Party and State, creating strong changes in poor areas, ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Over the past 20 years, social policy credit capital has been disbursed to more than 44,407 million poor households and other policy beneficiaries, helped more than 6.4 million households to exceed the poverty threshold; and created jobs for nearly 6.5 million workers. With the achieved results, social policy credit is a practical and effective bridge to life and is supported by the people.

With the motto “Understanding the people’s hearts, serving wholeheartedly”, VBSP has built a nationwide operation network, and promptly and widely deployed the Government’s preferential credit policies.

However, to thoroughly resolve current difficulties, VBSP recommended that the National Assembly, the Government, and the Prime Minister continue to pay attention, prioritize, allocate capital, and create resources to promote the role of VBSP as the key bank in effectively implementing social policy credit programs for the poor and policy beneficiaries.

VBSP will continue to maintain and implement the organizational model, management method and effective use of capital; strongly apply information technology, digital transformation to modernize banking and develop products and supporting services to bring convenience to the poor and other policy beneficiaries./.
