Dutch group opens aquatic feed factory in Can Tho

The Dutch-based supplier of animal nutrition products De Heus officially inaugurated its De Heus Can Tho aquatic feed factory in Tra Noc II Industrial Park, O Mon district of Can Tho City on September 26.

The 18.6 million USD factory has a capacity of 240,000 tonnes of high-quality feed products for tra and basa fish (Pangasius) yearly.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien highly appreciated the group’s contributions to Vietnam’s aquaculture development.
“De Heus's aquatic feed factory is very modern, all stages are automated, and the input control process is extremely strict. I think this is the decisive step in controlling food for pangasius to meet food safety standards for export," said Mr. Tien.
Mr. Johan van den Ban, General Director of De Heus Vietnam said that De Heus Vietnam constantly strives to help Vietnamese fish farmers move towards sustainable success, access top-quality genetic solutions, technical management solutions, and financial resources, while connecting them to the consumer market.
De Heus plans to use rooftop solar power for all of its plants and farms in 2024, expecting to annually cut CO2 emissions by 470 tonnes.
This is the sixth aquafeed factory of De Heus worldwide./.
