Ho Chi Minh City wishes to soon operate high-speed boat to Con Dao

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just requested the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial Department of Transport to coordinate and support the exploitation of passenger and tourist routes by waterway between the two localities.

According to the HCM City Department of Transport, on October 13, 2022, the Ministry of Transport issued Circular 24 amending and supplementing the circulars of the Minister of Transport regulating the management of waterway transport routes from offshore to islands in Vietnamese waters.
In particular, the Ministry of Transport added a waterway transport route between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao district.
Specifically, the city Department of Transport requested Ba Ria-Vung Tau to provide information on the investment situation of the project upgrading and expanding Ben Dam port and the project of Con Dao passenger port.
The Department also asked the People's Committee of Con Dao to coordinate, consider and agree on the operation of water vehicles in and out of ports and wharfs serving and transporting passengers and tourists at the beginning of the wharf in the district.
On the basis, enterprises prepare procedures for registration of passenger transport on fixed routes on the waterway from the shore to the island according to regulations./.
