Up to now, Da Nang has established official friendship and cooperation with 4 Japanese cities, including Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama and Kisarazu, and is cooperating with 15 other Japanese localities.
According to Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, economic cooperation activities between Da Nang and Japan have achieved positive results. Currently, Japan is the leading country in terms of registered investment capital in Da Nang city with more than USD1 billion for 222 projects, accounting for 23.5% of the number of projects and 26% of foreign investment capital into the city. Most of the projects are operating well, actively contributing to and promoting the city's socio-economic development through technology transfer, human resource training, product diversification and competitiveness enhancement.
“Local-level cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese provinces and cities is a bright spot in the foreign policy picture, bringing many benefits to both sides and contributing to the prosperous development of the two countries," Mr. Minh affirmed.
In recent years, trade activities between Da Nang and Japan are also developing strongly. Export turnover between the two sides reached USD730 million in 2022, and import was estimated at USD440 million, making a positive contribution to bilateral trade cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, universities in Da Nang and Japan have also been strongly cooperating in the fields of culture, education and tourism. There have been many cultural exchange activities between the two sides, such as the Vietnam - Japan Cultural Exchange Festival and other festivals.
The leader of Da Nang city noted that Da Nang has also established cooperation with Japanese universities and educational institutions to promote cooperation in education and training of high-quality human resources, especially the fact that the University of Dong A has had outstanding cooperation over the years in this field.
According to Mr. Luong Minh Sam, Chairman of the Council of East Asia University, currently the total number of Japanese partners cooperating in training and creating jobs for students of Dong A University is more than 100 units, including 8 provinces and cities, and more than 90 partners that are corporations and businesses, besides academic cooperation, research and international student exchange with universities in Japan.
So far, Dong A University has sent more than 500 students to practice and work abroad, most of whom come to Japan. Currently, the number of students applying to practice and work in Japan is increasing with more than 1,000 students studying the Japanese languages in 15 majors, according to Mr. Sam./.
