Over the past week, at Kim Thanh Road Border Gate in Lao Cai province, despite the hot weather, every day, there were still about 20 trucks carrying fresh lychee fruits through customs clearance for export to China.

This fresh lychee product is early-ripening, mainly from the growing areas of Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces. After harvesting, they are refrigerated in styrofoam boxes and transported to the northern border gates and exported to the Chinese market.

According to Mr. Tran Trung Hieu, a representative of Anh Viet Import-Export Co., Ltd., since the beginning of the litchee season, this company has exported more than 200 tons of fresh lychee to Chinese business partners.

“The border gates create favourable conditions for fresh lychees to clear customs quickly and safely to ensure the quality of goods,” he said.

Since the beginning of the lychee season, about 2,000 tons of early ripening lychees have been cleared for export to China through the Kim Thanh Road Border Gate. The number is expected to increase in the coming time, when the lychee season comes into main season.

Before the lychee season, the functional departments of Lao Cai took the initiative to increase the clearance capacity for this item to ensure maximum freshness. “All shipments of fresh lychees arriving at the border gate are given priority for clearing procedures ahead of other goods, ensuring immediate customs clearance," said Mr. Pham Van Phuc, Deputy Director of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch./.
