So far, the Huu Nghi International Border Gate is the border gate with the largest export volume of durian compared to the road border gates in the Northern region.

In May 2023 alone, the output of durian exported through Huu Nghi International Border Gate reached over 17,500 tons.

Currently, it is the main durian harvest in the southern provinces. Meanwhile, this item is only exported through international border gates. In which, the Huu Nghi International Border Gate sees more than 50% of the total number of durian export vehicles.

According to estimates, the output of fresh durian fruit exported through the Huu Nghi Border Gate in June 2023 may reach over 20,000 tons.

Representatives from the Plant Quarantine Sub-Department of Region VII, Plant Quarantine Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the Chinese authorised agencies are particularly interested in the quality of Vietnam's durian. Accordingly, all shipments of durian imported into China are strictly inspected for quality and origin.

To ensure convenience for customs clearance, Vietnamese durian export enterprises must meet the requirements of specialized agencies on food safety and hygiene control, and strictly comply with packaging regulations, ensuring accurate traceability.

Currently, fresh durian fruit is mainly exported to the Chinese market, accounting for 83% of the total fruit export value.

According to the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first 2 months of 2023, durian is the export fruit with the highest growth rate in the group of vegetables and fruits that Vietnam is exporting to China, at a value of USD56.9 million, up 290.8% from the same period in 2022.

It is estimated that when durian is in season, durian export output to the Chinese market will grow even more strongly./.
