Specifically, turnover of fresh/frozen products decreased sharply, while export of dry goods and processed goods increased.

Of this, exports fell deeply in all major product groups such as: shrimp down 35%, other marine fish (except tuna) down 23%, and pangasius down 5%.

By the end of May, shrimp exports to China reached 137 million USD, down 19% or accounting for 34% of total seafood export value to this market. Pangasius surpassed shrimp, accounting for 41%, reaching 165.5 million USD, representing a slight increase of 2%.

Generally, in the first 5 months of 2021, Vietnam’s seafood exports to this market decreased by 6%, reaching 405 million USD.

Export of fresh/live/frozen black tiger shrimp decreased by 25% in May 2021 and declined by 26% in the first 5 months of 2021, reaching 46 million USD, while processed black tiger shrimp increased sharply by 278%, reaching 1.4 million USD.
