Policy credit balance to hit over 310 trillion VND by end of September

Total policy credit balance will reach 310.224 trillion VND by September 30, 2023, an increase of 34.6% compared to December 31, 2020, reaching an average growth rate of 11.5% a year, with nearly 6.7 million customers with outstanding loans.

This is the latest data updated at a conference on the emulation movement “For the poor - Leaving no one behind” and “The whole country joins hands to build new-style rural areas” in 2021 – 2025, recently held by the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) in Hanoi.

Accordingly, outstanding loans to poor households, near-poor households and newly-escaping-poverty households, contributing to the implementation of the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction reached 128.691 billion VND, accounting for 43.4% of total outstanding loans with nearly 3 million households with outstanding loans.

In particular, outstanding loans in poor districts reached nearly 30,251 billion VND, accounting for 9.75% of total outstanding loans, with nearly 600,000 households with outstanding loans.

Outstanding loans in rural areas contributed to the implementation of the National Target Program on new-style rural areas with 276,864 billion VND, accounting for nearly 90% of the total outstanding loans of VBSP.

From 2021 to September 2023, policy capital has supported and created jobs for more than 1.9 million workers, of which over 16,000 workers went to work abroad for a limited time; helped nearly 147,000 students in difficult circumstances borrow loans to study; helped nearly 2,000 businesses borrow capital to recover production and business; and paid salaries to nearly 546,000 workers affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.

Aiming for social policy credit to become increasingly effective in sustainable poverty reduction, new-style rural areas building and socio-economic development, General Director of VBSP Duong Quyet Thang requested units in the system to continue to thoroughly grasp, popularize and implement the Party's policies and guidelines, and the State’s policies and law on emulation and commendation and President Ho Chi Minh’s patriotic emulation ideology.

He requested the launch of emulation movements throughout the VBSP system to strive to excellently complete the task of implementing policy credit for the poor and other policy beneficiaries in 2023 - 2025, contributing to successful implementation of the 5-year socio-economic development task (2021 - 2025) according to the Resolution of the 13th National  Party Congress.

On this occasion, the conference also announced the Decisions of the Prime Minister and the General Director of VBSP for collectives with outstanding achievements./.
