Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong said that in the process of accelerating the national industrialization and modernization to achieve the goal to become a developing country with a modern industry by 2030, Vietnam has received active cooperation, support and help from international friends, including Japan.

Therefore, on the basis of the cooperation between the senior leaders of the two countries, the Prime Minister approved Vietnam's Industrialization Strategy within the framework of Vietnam-Japan cooperation towards 2020 with a vision to 2030.

Vietnam's Industrialization Strategy within the framework of Vietnam-Japan cooperation towards 2020, with a vision to 2030, prioritizes the concentrated development of 6 industries, including industrial machines; agricultural and aquatic product processing; electronic; shipbuilding; automobile and auto parts and environmental and energy saving industry.

Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Phuong said that after the implementation period, the strategy has achieved a number of positive results, such as promoting the development of supporting industries, increasing the localization rate, and improving the productivity and competition of 6 priority industries.

Mr. Matsumoto Izumi, First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, highly appreciated the certain progress of the Vietnamese side in the implementation of the Strategy. He also made a number of policy proposals to help Vietnam escape the middle-income trap and become a developed country by 2045, such as improving the development level of the industry, promoting restructuring industries and high technology, promoting the development of an economy based on innovation.

Mr. Matsumoto Izumi affirmed that Japan wishes to cooperate with the Vietnamese side to set out industrial cooperation orientations in the new era, in line with the development orientations of both countries.

At the recent meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation orientations in developing and implementing the Strategy in order to enhance Japan's support and experience sharing in the new context. The Vietnamese side proposed to continue promoting Japanese investment, especially investment projects using high technology, with research and development activities, connection, dissemination and technology transfer with domestic companies.

In addition, the Strategy will continue to promote cooperation in the field of training, improving the quality of human resources; research activities and promotion of technology transfer and innovation; infrastructure development; policy research, sharing of experience in perfecting policies to promote greening and digitization of the economy./.
