According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's import and export of goods in the first 7 months of 2023 to the Asian market region reached USD241.84 billion, accounting for the largest proportion of 65% of Vietnam’s total import and export value of goods to the world, a decrease of 13.5% from the same period last year.

The import and export of goods to Americas followed with USD76.47 billion, accounting for 20.4%, down 18.7%; to Europe, USD42.06 billion, accounting for 11.2%, down 7.4%; to Oceania, USD8.97 billion, accounting for 2.4%, down 15.2%; to Africa, USD5.02 billion, accounting for 1.3%, up 4.8% over the same period last year.
Trade in goods declined in line with the general situation of global trade.
Vietnam’s export of goods to large markets such as the EU and the US also witnessed a deep decline. In 7 months, exports to the US reached USD53.096 billion, down 20.8%; to the EU 27 reached USD25,261 billion, down 8.8%; and to Oceania, including Australia and New Zealand, reached USD3.439 billion, down 11%.
Last year, Vietnam's goods trade with Asia reached USD475.29 billion. Among the 5 continents, Vietnam only had trade deficit from Asia.
Major partners in this continent included China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and ASEAN.
Last year, import and export with ASEAN reached USD81.14 billion, with a trade deficit of USD13.42 billion.
Two-way trade with China reached USD175.65 billion, with trade deficit of USD60.25 billion./.
